It is my hope that late into the game Eivor will become a true hidden one, and will choose to sacrifice his wring finger and switch to wearing the hidden blade on the inner arm like most other assassins, but for most of the game it makes the most sense that he would wear the blade in the safer and less committed fashion that it was originally

First of all it’s auto while phasing but you are using 6+ link with blade vortex.So yeah your concern viable.And it’s possibly hipster variant of blade vortex but I’m concerning about shield version of this build,maybe I can work on dot version of this build with stack poison and rf.But either way it’s seems like not worth to hype.So

Like when the blade is fully drawn, the lock springs close to prevent retraction of the blade. The down side is that you have to manually retract it back after use. More importantly, hidden blades are less practical in real life than in games for the reason that any blade needs to be cleaned and washed of blood after use.
Possible explanation for how the hidden blade functions. On all the DIY hidden blades, the mechanism is a string connected to some kind of blade. But, if you were to be in a fast, large sword-on-hidden blade fight, there is a good chance that your hand would be in some way injured. In any case, the string would easily be severed in that fight. Leonardo DiVinci repairs your hidden blade, just as you get it. I can open the map, options dialog, and change weapons but the cut-scene will not proceed. I have tried replaying this memory several times, but it does not help. I am running AC2 on Steam via UPlay (Windows 7, SP1, 64 bit). This is a legit copy.
